Cabot Corporation is delighted to celebrate a noteworthy milestone in 2007: the 125th anniversary of our founding in 1882 by Boston entrepreneur, Godfrey Lowell Cabot.

At the height of the Industrial Age, young Mr. Cabot combined his knowledge of pigmentation and chemistry with an understanding of natural gas to become an early producer of carbon black. It is no coincidence that carbon black was a key ingredient in many critical applications of his day. These products ranged from printing inks that were needed to satisfy an increasingly literate society鎶?thirst for newspapers and magazines. It also enabled the development of tires and other rubber goods required for the fledgling automotive industry.
